Multimedia

When to use multimedia elements

Multimedia is used with the intention of

  • increasing motivation,
  • supporting visual learning (often times a picture says more than a long text),
  • achieving specific learning objectives (e.g., helping the student improve auscultation skills by using audio sequences).

Selection

Choose media according to the following criteria:

  • high-grade quality
  • meaningful demonstration
  • as realistic as possible

It can also be useful to insert media that does not contain specific information, but simply illustrates the patient's story or adds to the storyboard. This can make it easier for the student to imagine the situation and increases motivation.
