How to design the case structure
It is helpful to divide the case into chapters in order to provide an overview. These can typically be called: welcome, introduction, first impression, anamnesis, diagnostic investigation, diagnosis, therapy, epicrisis, end.
Then you can assign cards to each chapter. It is recommendable to use specific names for your cards as opposed to formal or general names (e.g., “Neurological deficit” instead of “Finding 1”). This not only increases motivation, but also helps the author and the student to find cards more easily.
For psychological reasons, keep the length of the case appropriate. Too many cards or too much content on a single page may have a negative impact on motivation. As a guideline, we recommend that the amount of time it takes to work on a case should not exceed one hour.
If there is too much content, it is advisable to split the case into two cases (e.g., with a different focus).
