CASUS Help

CASUS offers a variety of integration opportunities to and from other IT systems:

• AICC (deprecated)
• LTI from other systems, e.g. LMS moodle
• Shibboleth/eduGain
• xAPI/Learner Record Store - spooling usage data to own data source

LTI

To use LTI, administrators from both systems have to exchange information (shared secret for encryption). Please contact us if you would like to use LTI.

Shibboleth

Please contact us if you would like to use Shibboleth and a simplified profile-based opening for courses.

xAPI/Learner Record Store (LRS)

This is currently being tested. The feature will allow spooling users' usage data to your own LRS. Please note that it is your responsibility to comply with GPDR regulations. Self-hosted documentation on what data is stored is necessary and if hosted externally you are responsible for complying with regulations, especially but not limited to cloud services. This is particularly complex if you are located in the EU and would like to use cloud services outside of the EU. We are trying to document best practice for the future. Please use this feature carefully and/or contact us for details.

Entering LRS information is self-explanatory: you have to provide a URL + credentials (usually login/password). Using an LRS without credentials is not considered best practice. Additionally, you can select the level of details that you would like to send to the LRS:

• Case level: only events like open, close, resume, terminate case will be sent to your LRS.
• Card level: card related events, like time spent will be sent.
• Answer level: submitted user answers will be sent (not all answer types are supported yet)

AICC

On this page you can create the interface between your CASUS course and your Learning Management System, moodle. Students do not have to login again when accessing CASUS courses (SingleSignOn). Simply create a ZIP-file on this page and download it. You can then upload the file as a SCORM package in your moodle course. Please make sure that the CASUS course is open in a new window.

CAVE

Please be aware that this SingleSignOn interface only works if your moodle administrator has uploaded a patch to your moodle. If you are unsure or have questions, please contact the CASUS support team.
