Questions

Questions are aimed at:

  • reactivating available knowledge (knowledge questions)
  • training clinical reasoning (operation questions)

Try to use operation questions as often as possible, because they are at the core of case-based learning. Training and improving clinical reasoning skills is the most important superordinate learning objective of a learning case.
Knowledge questions can be used as well, but do not necessarily require a case.

CASUS provides a variety of different question/answer types. To make a case more interesting and motivating it is recommended to use several question/answer types. When choosing an answer type, the most important criterion is that it is suitable for the type of question. Do not use unfitting answer types only to increase variability!

In the following chapters, each question/answer type is examined further. The advantages and disadvantages of each type are presented, as well.
